Meet the Team

Arleen Cameron

Co-Founder and Trustee
Safeguarding Lead Grampian

Arleen trained as a doula in 2019 following the birth of her first child. In the following years she volunteered with a birth companion organisation before moving to Aberdeen in 2021 and setting up Aberdeen Birth Collective CIC, which continues to provide free support for people birthing in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Along the way she has added training in breastfeeding peer support, hypnobirthing, movement for birth, 3 Step Rewind technique and traditional Chinese mediciine, though her passion for human rights in pregnancy and childbirth and helping people to advocate for those rights has always remained her main motivation.

An activist to her core, Grampian and Tayside Birth Partners is the culmination of many years working with people navigating the maternity system and a long-held desire to help provide inclusive birth support to those who need it most, no matter their circumstances.

Arleen is also a Co-Chair of Grampian Maternity Voices Partnership, and admin for the group Scottish Doulas and Friends.
